My first Vestiaire Collective purchase

I've been wanting the super expensive Joseph leather leggings for as long as I can remember but they are so expensive I couldn't get my head around it - so what next? Well, sometimes when you really really want something, second hand (or rather pre-owned as Vestiaire Collective calls it) is the only way forward!

I should probably start by saying that I'm not great with things that have already been worn, I get a kick out of buying something shiny and new so the idea of looking at a second hand pair took a bit of convincing. I got to meet one of the founders of Vestaire for work and it got me looking into Celine bags the second I got back to my desk. For those of you who are not familiar with it "Vestiaire Collective was launched in 2009 by a team of 6 founders who recognised the need for an online platform that allowed people to buy and sell luxury pre-owned fashion. Vestiaire Collective creates a unique environment where all items are authenticated and checked before reaching the seller, thereby eradicating the risks of purchasing counterfeits, mis-selling or mis-pricing items."

My Joseph trousers arrived in perfect condition a few days after I bought them (they had been through several quality and authenticity checks which I was kept informed of by email). A perfectly wrapped package arrived by courier, the leggings wrapped in tissue paper and all in a  branded Vestiaire Collective carrier bag. They had swing tags on them giving me information about who had done all the quality and authenticity checks (all ticked by hand).

Now that I'm wearing my next to new pair of gorgeous Joseph trousers and payed a fraction of the price for them I wonder: why on earth did I make  such a fuss and WHY have I not bought things before?

Wow! Quite a different experience than what I had with them in January...
Ordered a Sandro dress that was supposed to be in immaculate condition. Had no emails about any of the quality checks, until received the dress and immediately upon opening the parcel it was obvious that the dress was actually missing a huge piece of fabric that had been ripped off.
Took pictures and emailed them immediately, but didn't receive response in 3 days. Called the customer service who promised to reply to my claim immediately via email. No such thing happened so called again next day and then received a reply which was just "send it back".
Refund took weeks to receive but eventually appeared...

Clearly the 'quality control' depends highly on the item (or the shopper?) as my dress also had none of the tags you have pictures of and in at least my case was a complete failure.

Needless to say I wont be shopping with them again.

Not a great experience for me shopping there as well. Bought a very expensive coat, no updates for quite a long time and then out of the blue (after they had been sat on my money for all this time) an email saying that the seller had changed their mind and wasn't selling after all. Had to WAIT for my money back and was generally furious by the whole thing.

Oh dear. Clearly you benefitted from having met the founder. I too have had some repeatedly dreadful experiences with vestiaire collective. Three times in a row I have bought a bag, waited ages, chased them several times to be told after 2 weeks that the sellers had changed their minds!!! I would not recommend them and if do some research online you will find similar stories too. Maybe you are exempt from their usual practices, being on the 'inside' - what enraged me most was that when I left a comment on their instagram (honest but inoffensive) it was removed. Great PR; rotten customer care!

Dear WIT readers, after having received three complaints on the VC's shopping experience, I contacted the press office and spoke directly to the company's press officer and asked to look into the reason of the specific dissatisfaction.

My experience was absolutely fine, it took a while to receive my item but I repeatedly got updated via email and only gathered it was down to the quality checks that each item has to go through.

They issued this statement:

"We are really sorry about the inconveniences you faced on your orders.
We would like to understand what happened and do our best to help you.
Could you please give us your Order Number? Please contact Constance at support@vestiairecollective.com.

As for comments being published on WIT my policy is and always be the same one: I publish ALL comments as long as they don't contain swear words or are rude and offensive. WIT is a happy place where we appreciate constructive criticism.

I have to manually log into blogger to publish comments and sometimes, due to lack of time in teh day, I do it in bulk at the end of the day.. or week!

I hope any of you who had problems with their orders at VC will take advantage of the opportunity to give feedback with the aim at improving the service.

I have made a payment for $2000 with this website 3 working days ago.
Until now I still haven't got any order confirmation!! How can this "Look Alike" professional website give a response so slowly like this??!! Is this company fake??
I have to move to other country in the next few weeks I have tried to contact them thru their website and thru their Facebook because I want to know the approximate arrival time of the order... But NO ONE really gives me any response!!! What a really bad mistake I have made!! :'(
