Christmas and New Year diary

HAPPY NEW YEAR WIT READERS!
I hope you all had a lovely brake and that you got all you wished for this Crhistmas and New Year. I had a fantastic time with my family in London doing lots of fun things. I've kept a little photographic diary to tell you all about it, I hope you enjoy it! See you tomorrow with my first outfit of 2012.

22nd Dec 2011
First day on holiday! My parents arrived in the evening and I decided to treat them to a lovely home cooked dinner. My aunt gave me a beautiful red and gold table cloth for Christmas so I used it for the first time to set the table for them. I rarely have time to sit down but when I do I like making a real occasion of it,  taking time to choose and arrange everything beautifully.

During the day I also made each family member a personalised name plate using a little red candle and candle-glass then wrapped in clear paper, I tied it with a pretty bow and stamped with their initials. I wrote their name and date on the glass and we all lit them on Christmas day on the table. It was very pretty.. although my dad was disappointed it wasn't an eatable gift!

23rd Dec 2011
The rest of the family arrived: sisters, brother in laws and my husband's family. We had a super fun dinner at Shore ditch house and I wore my new French Connection red trousers, which I had saved for the night, with my big Prada earrings and cashmere Uniqlo jumper.

I took my mum and sisters shopping in town, it was mayhem but a lot of fun. We went to New Look and bought a pair of shoes each: glitter courts for Sis number one, hot pink sandals for Sis number two and tangerine ballerinas for my mum...

I got these black platform sandals- more MIU MIU than New Look I say!You can shop online for these £20 sandals clicking HERE

The BEST thing about Christmas was definetly having my sisters around. Here they are, Sara and Vittoria at our Chrsitmas eve pub dinner (wearing the new clothes we bought during the day).

25th Dec 2011

With 11 of us under the Xmas tree I had never seen so many presents! It took us ages to open them all, especially as we have a rule in my family where we open one present at the time and everyone has to watch patiently. I wore my Jaeger knit dress with glittery ballerians: comfort meets casual chic ;-)

I got some amazing gifts, my friends and family had obviously been reading Red because I got almost everything I had wished for including the tres-chic grey cashmere robe that I longed for from my husband...

Some of my other favourite gifts were:
  • A box of "relaxing" goodies from the lovely Lucy (scented candle, bath salts, cashmere socks, my favourite chocolate and 2 amazing cd's)- so much thought in this beautiful gift.
  • The photo album of my hen night from my sisters- photo gifts are always a favourite of mine.
  • Anthropolgie mugs with my husband and my initials on them- I don't think I need to explain my love for monogramming?
  • An amazing Chanel necklace from the Chanel team... Can't go wrong with Chanel-anything!

The day ended watching old movies and playing board games. It was a lovely lovely day!

26th Dec 2011
On boxing day we all went to see The Nutcracker... My absolute favorite thing to do at Christmas time. It was magical and doesn't get more Chrimassy than that!

27/28/29/30 Dec 2011

Wellies and a huge puffer jacket were my best friends for the next four days as we left London by car for the spectacukar Lake district. It was muddy, rainy and cold but we loved it every minute of it. We stayed in cosy Inns, went for long country walks, ate amazing pub food, drank tea with scones and clotted cream, played Monopoly every night. Blissfully relaxing.

If you plan to go to the Lake District here are some of my suggestions:

Try some sausage and mash pub food at The Queens Head in Troutbeckand
Stay at The Drunken Duck Inn in Ambleside http://drunkenduckinn.co.uk/
Visit the poet William Wordworth' s home-: Rydal Mount House and Gardens
Take a walk around the Rydal Water  from Whitemoss car par

My sister and I cooked all day in preparation for New Years Eve dinner at my house it was lots fun and I tweeted pics of the things we baked and cooked during the day- you can see them here https://twitter.com/#!/WITblog/media/grid

In the evening I wore my new Moschino dress. I finally bagged this a dress after months of lusting after it... It was a bit pricey for my pockets so I decided to wait for the sales and Netaporter had a really good deal with 50% off!

I met my cousin in town for a little shopping spree- my little cousins are the cutest thing and whilst in Top Shop and Oasis they kept on trying things on..

I bought a pair of Top Shop spotty trousers like the ones that sold out some time in September but in a navy variation.  I haven't found them online but they are def still in store today.

Tomorrow it's back to work, so see you then!  x

What a lovely post, thank you for sharing!

And I've actually been eyeing off that same Moschino Cheap & Chic dress for months but notice it says 'large to size'. Would you advise going down 1 size? Or even 2? Love it on you!
