Happy New Year WIT readers! I hope you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year - I had a lovely time back home in Italy and enjoyed some time off after an amazing, yet super busy 2014. The last 12+ months have been full of exciting highlights for me so I wanted to take some time to look back at this last brilliant year.
Some of my favourite 2014 looks |
In February I travelled to Milan and Paris for the international catwalk shows and watched some memorable productions where Chanel became the chicest supermarket on the planet! In Paris I wore one of my favourite outfits to date, (namely the pink Jil Sander skirt with a life of it's own) and got featured in some of my favourite papers and blogs such as The Times, Vogue.com and even around the world in German Grazia and US Glamour (thank you for the WIT readers that let me know about it!).
Forget the girl! Where's the skirt from? |
In March I got a first taster of what it feels like to meet you in person when I co-hosted a store event with GAP in London. It was so much fun to have the opportunity to meet some of you and chat about all things fashion and luckily it was only shortly after that I got to do it again when in May I hosted my first WIT store event together with J.Crew.We had a fabulous evening and one of you even got to win a £500 voucher to spend in store!

It was around Easter time that I realised that I was ready for a new challenge so in June, after six beautiful year at Red and twelve working in magazines, I handed in my notice to start working on a secret project that had been in the back burner for years...
Walking out of Red one last time in June |
I took some time off and had an amazing summer - I spent some time with my family and friends between Tuscany, Sicily and Tunisia whilst developing our new website with my friend Petro.
2014 was of my best Summers ever! |
In September I hosted my biggest event yet (350 of you in the J.Crew Sloane Street store opening), and another event during Vogue Fashion Night Out with LK Bennett and on October the third Wardrobe ICONS went live!

Since then a dream came true (albeit with it's challenges): I am now my own boss.
Amongst my highlights there's certainly interviewing Jenna Lyons, Eva Herzigova and shooting in the beautiful
homes of some of the most stylish fashion editors in the UK.

Whilst developing the Wardrobe ICONS philosophy I've definitely learnt to buy more cleverly: I now only invest in things I know will withstand the test of time and that I will wear for a long time. Amongst my favourite buys are my Aquazzura strappy flats, my Etoile kaftan, my Valentino Rockstuds and my latest purchase: my Dolce figure huggings black lace dress. So in terms of shopping I can safely
say it's been a great year!
Thinking about Wearing It Today and the way it has developed in the past almost-six-years years, I am so proud of our little community and also of the opportunities that having a blog have given me. I wanted to reassure those of you that asked that WIT is indeed staying, but it will somewhat go back to what it was originally intented for: outfit inspiration.
I started Wearing It Today as a quick, everyday "fashion fix", a place to share my daily outfits and and for you to go on if you are looking for a little bit of inspiration on what to wear the next day. When I shared this post last spring asking you for opinions on "How can WIT be better", I got an amazing amount of invaluable feedback, one that encouraged me to implement all these changes on a new platforms, and it id for this reason that Wardrobe ICONS and The ICONS Update was born. So if you miss my pages in Red, find everything and more in the (*free*) e-zine that I now entirely edit.
Today I am the co-editor of my own magazine: Wardrobe ICONS and the blogger behind Wearing It Today. Between the two, I hope you will find all the inspiration and fashion advice you are looking for - if not, let me know, I always love to hear from you!
x
Laura
PS. New The ICONS Update out tomorrow with our edit of the best wardrobe investments to make during the sales!
