Bicester day trip!

What's more perfect and fun than spending the day shopping with your good friend! Today I got on the train from London Marylebone to Bicester Village for an afternoon of just that. I love Bicetser and if you've never been it's definetly worth a visit.  It's just 50 minutes on the train  from London and it's essentially a high street of outlets in the middle of Oxfordshire. You can find back season items of Anya, Gucci, Marni, Theory, Joseph and many many more. I was looking for PRINTS, actually for a "floral print-summery-flowy-something" for my upcoming holiday, and after a lot of trying on found just the perfect thing.........

A/W virtual shopping list

Last night I read Vogue's 2010 Catwalk report and, as I do every year, I went on a little virtual shopping spree deciding what trends to embrace, what items to invest in and which ones to just get on the high street. It's really helpful to do this at the beginning of the season and compile a mental list of what to I already have and what not. Here are some of my "if money were no object" favorite looks and a list of things I'll be looking out for..

• Armfuls of "friendship" bracelets (Astley Clarke does the cutest ones)
• Anything camel
• A pair of leather trousers
• Straight legged, wool, cropped pants like the season must from Gap
• A great fur lined parka
• Coffee cloured skinny leather belts over junky knits
• Winter sunglasses
• Hand held oversize clutches
• Designer logo jewellery
• White, camel and black: my new favorite colour combination
• Sophisticated, slick, grown up, classic with and edge wardrobe.

Double duty

This is actually a knee length skirt that I've belted and now wearing as a strapless dress. Knee lengths are huge next season, so I can always wear this skirt with a cashmere roll neck, woolly tights and a pair of heels in Winter. But for now, I've painted my toenails with my new hot pink Essie polish and enjoying Summer!

Skirted

A good way to wear dressy/evening skirts during the day is to pair them with a casual t-shirt. Be it a satin, sequined or ruffled skirt,  a simple jersey t-shirt with breath new life into your "evening" separates.

A denim dress is a great smart-casual number with the added bonus of being virtually ageless, mine is from Marks and Spencers and I've accessorised it with my new Prada fabric belt. Wear it with heels and a designer bag in the city, or with wedges and a trilby hat on holiday. Sunday chill out in the country

A belted t-shirt dress is a perfect Sunday outfit: takes up no space in your week-end bag, doesn't matter if it creases and you won't be precious with it if you're laying on the lawn all day, as I am today.

Week end in the country

Off to the country for the week end and playing the tea-dress card for picnic on the lawn. In my overnight bag: a dress for tonight, heels, swimsuit and t-shirt dress for tomorrow.

New designer alert!

I recently did a shoot for Red and called in a selection of necklaces from  jewellery designer Djurdja Watson- I hadn't heard of her jewellery before and absolutely fell in love with her Crystal Dream collection. I adore the jewel colours and chunkiness of her designs so I had to share this fabulous new designer. I can't bring myself to decide what colour I'm going to buy to add to my collection of statement necklaces but I'm thinking this green one is a winner...

City break packing tips

Since not everyone is going away to a beach holiday I thought I would post a a few tips on what to pack on a city break this summer, as well as my ideal outfit for sightseeing in the heat.

1. WEAR linen/cotton trousers that can be rolled up in the heat
2. CARRY a small satchel with all your essentials like money, camera, sunnies and sunscreen
3. LOOK stylish with a hair pulled back in a ponytail and manicured toes/nails with Essie's Geranium 
4. HOP around in well strapped flats that give your feet good support 
5. LAYER cotton t-shirts of different arm lengths to take you from Church chill to lunch in the sun
6. PROTECT against the heat and look stylish at the same time with a panama hat 

White shirt style update

I'm not a big fan of shirts in general, but a crisp white shirt worn with denim and a tan is a love of mine. This was my dad's and looks great with distressed denim and a tini-tiny bra showing. I'll wear it with a  feminine skirt or dressed up with some diamante earrings. Everyone has a white shirt in their wardrobe so this is a great no-money-spent style update.
