THE WIT RAFFLE with £600 to spend at Jimmy Choo

Somerset by Alice Temperley Cap Sleeve Sequin Dress £299
Next week I'm away on holiday so I thought I would leave you with a fabulous opportunity to win a  £600 voucher to spend at (drum rolls...) Jimmy Choo and a little appeal, so please read on..

On Wednesday night I got to dress up in full length gown from Alice Temperley to go a fabulous charity ball for Sugarplum Children. Sugarplum Children is a website and fund raising initiative set up by Jubie Wigan whose daughter Aliena was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of just two and a half. Jubie is a dear friend of a childhood friend of mine, we all became mummies around the same time, so this charity means a lot to me when I think of the poor children who suffer from this life-threatening condition. Despite what some people think, type 1 diabetes is not caused by lifestyle choices, and those affected by the condition rely on insulin via injections or a pump and finger-prick blood tests every day. The majority, who are on injections, have approximately 3600 needles going into their tiny bodies every single year just to stay alive... You can read a little more about Sugarplum Children in my Red magazine blog and see me wearing the beautiful Sugarplum pendant designed exclusively by Annoushka to raise money for the charity.

Crafted in 18ct Rose Gold and set with 0.23ct diamonds and sold on a 43cm Rose Gold Chain, 200 pounds of every sale of this pendant will go directly to JDRF to support the brave little stars that are children dealing with Type 1 Diabetes.£995
It was an emotional night but also very fun one. At the dinner my husband bought me two raffle tickets from the Sugarplum tree and guess what I won? A £600 voucher to spend in Jimmy Choo, how appropriate! However,  since I certainly do not need another pair of shoes and this cause is very close to my heart I would love to give a WIT reader the opportunity to win the voucher, so girls get your cheque books out!

HOW TO ENTER THE RAFFLE

Simply send an email to wearingittoday@gmail.com specifying how much you would like to donate to the charity and I will provide you with payment details and your very own unique number to enter the raffle.

All entries must be made by 6pm Sunday December the 1st

Whilst I film her, Greta will pick up one ticket from a hat and I will announce the winner on Monday December the 2nd.

Good luck and please be generous.. remember this Christmas you could have a £600 voucher to spend at Jimmy Choo under your Christmas tree!

Love

WIT mama Friday: the perfect week end coat

Zara sunglasses and boots, Whistles coat, HM jeans
Ever since I went to Paris for the week end and I felt slightly "off" in my khaki green parka, I've been looking for the perfect week end coat that is pratcical but also a bit sleek and just right for the city. The sort of thing you put on a Saturday morning for a walk in the park, brunch with friends, the zoo but that also looks cool on a week end break without the kids.  I must have tried on something like 15 jackets in the likes of Maje, Sandro and Iro.. but there was always an element I didn't like: an exposed zip, black and not navy, cheap looking fur, too pricey, unflattering fit.. and the list goes on. Well,  last week I found the perfect jacket in Whistles and bought it within two minutes from trying it on. It ticked every box, minus one but hey something's gotta give!
  • It's navy
  • Padded and very warm (tried and tested)
  • Sheepskin looks expensive
  • Hooded
  • Deep pockets
  • Flattering length just covering bum
  • A bit fitted so doesn't swamp you
  • Leather sleeves make it cool and a bit fashiony
  • It's gorgeous but not precious, which means I will wear it
  • Good price point
Only box it didn't tick is that it's not waxed or waterproof. I'll bring a brolly!

Whistles Cooper Leather Sleeve Navy Coat£275.00
P.S.  Dearest WIT readers, Wearing It Today will be on holiday all of next week as Greta and I go on a little trip back to Italy to visit the family. See you on the first week of December when I return with WIT's very own Christmas Gift Guide.. do NOT miss!

My Beauty Stash

There are few things I like to talk about as much as fashion, and make up and beauty would be two of them. So I was delighted to be asked take part in a wonderfully nosey feature for Get The Gloss called My Beauty Stash, which focuses on industry insiders beauty cabinets, especially since I got to chat  to Red's former Beauty Director Rosie Green (the most knowledgeable beauty editor I know) . Whilst I was spilling the beans on my beauty obsessions, Greta was charming the hairdresser and getting a little styling session of her own, it was a lovely day and I even got my personal Rosie Green skin care recommendations, so hope you will enjoy the feature as much as I did shooting it. Read a little preview below and visit www.getthegloss.com for the full lowdown.

Rosie Green met with fashion editor and style blogger Laura Fantacci to find out what beauty secrets lay within her beauty stash.

Mixing Italian flair with London edge Laura Fantacci’s Wearing It Today blog is the ultimate fash-piration. Rosie Green gets an access all areas pass on her beauty haul and finds she likes products. A LOT.

What are your can’t-survive-without skincare products?
"I’m obsessed with my skin feeling 100% clean. I like to wash my face in the shower using either Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, £27, or Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, £13.25. Both are brilliantly non-drying and remove my eye make-up easily too. Then I use a couple of drops of SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 serum, £59, to give my skin plumpness.  It’s expensive, but my last bottle went from June to September.  I also use their Daily Sun Defense, SPF 20, £27."

"I love using a face oil in the evening. It feels like a warm, nurturing hug after a long day. My favourite is Vaishaly Night Nourisher, £75. For facemasks I love Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque, £31.90, which is brilliantly cooling in the summer (I keep it in the fridge).  In the winter I love Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask, £32.90. I’ll use Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing Cleanser, £35.60, about once every two weeks, really massaging it in.  You’re a little red straight afterwards, but the next day you really glow."

And give us the lowdown on your hair?
"I had super long hair, but after I had my daughter I felt ready for a change. I discovered George and Sally Northwood at Josh Wood Atelier, who now cut and lighten it.  I sit there for six hours and I faint every time I get the bill but it is worth it. I’m not fussy about shampoo. I use one called Mustela Baby Shampoo, £7.50, which I buy from a French pharmacy for my daughter. I don’t use conditioner, but rough dry it with salt spray - the Lavett  & Chin Sea Salt Texturizing Mist, £25. It looks better if I sleep on it damp."

Hat season

Comptoirs de Cotonnier jacket, Isabela Marant HM skirt, Other Stories bag, Zara boots.
My theory is that as long as your head, neck and torso are warm you can sort of survive sock-less in the winter (for short spans of time at least!), yet I can't live without a hat in the cold British winter. I wear one most days and the only style that looks any decent on me (I'm not a hat person) is the classic pom pom beanie. I bought my navy wool one last year in Florence from a random shop and would be devastated if I lost it, lots of you have asked me where to find a similar one so here's WIT's edit. Most of them come in a few colours so make sure you look out for your perfect shade and.. the bigger the pom pom the better!

1. Top Shop Fur Pom Cable Beanie £14.00

2. Accessorize Beanie Neon Tribal Geo Beanie £17

3. French Connection Tabitha Bobble Hat £22.00 (also available in green and cream)

4. Eugenia Kim Mimi chunky-knit wool pompom beanie £150

5. Eugenia Kim Rain ribbed knit beanie hat £180

6. Accessorize Crystal Flower Pom Pull On Hat £20.00

7. Accessorize Chunky Beanie £17.00

8. Anthropologie Homeward Beanie £38.00

The real thing

Isabel Marant jacket, MiH jeans, Other Stories bag, Prada boots
I've been out of the office for a few days, so today you won't hear much from me as it's head down and work work work. I've been so gutted to miss the Isabel Marant for HM collection last week that today I'm wearing my #realthing as a little consolation..

Hello!

Gap sweater, HM jeans, Russell and Bomley slippers
Here I am behind the scenes of my Red magazine February shoot. It's been a manic day starting with a trip to A&I (all fine!) so I have not had a chance to post all the behind the scenes I had planned for you but hopefully those of you that follow me on Instagram got a little peek...

WIT mama Friday: Eight Winter Essentials

Fridays are my days off with Greta, I usually take her to the park, go to soft play or meet up with friends with children for a play date. My off-duty uniform is very simple but I still choose great classics, of good quality that are an investement and make me feel chic at all times. I wear a lot of cashmere, jeans and in the winter I live in my biker boots that are the perfect park-shoe.  Now that the cold has arrived I thought I would round up my eight stylish, no-fuss, mummy-friendly seasonal must buys which I for one couldnt have lived without last winter.

CHINTI CASHMERE, because it's just a little bit special but never looks precious.
Chinti and Parker Striped cashmere sweater £305

1) A GOOD LIP BALM
, because out in the cold you need it.
Lucas Papaw Ointment, 25g £9

2) A BOBBLE HAT
, I loved my navy one with fur bobble and wore it all winter.
Eugenia Kim Sasha cable-knit alpaca beanie £195
  3) WINTER SUNGLASS
, because you can hide behind them.
Ray-Ban The Wayfarer acetate sunglasses £120

4) A GOOD PAIR OF JEANS
, because comfort is key.
MiH Jeans Phoebe mid-rise boyfriend jeans £220

5) THE PARKA
, because in the parka practical meets style.
Isabel Marant Étoile Felton fur trimmed parka coat £515

6) RUBBER SOLED BOOTS
, rain and waterproof good for stomping around with the pram.
Biker boots Marc by Marc Jacobs £325.00

7) GLOVES
, because pushing a pram without them would be impossible.

The navy coat

Jil Sander AW13
This week I've been wearing my Reiss maxi coat a few times, it received lots of compliments and "where's it from??" so I thought I would take a look in the shops and see if there is anything similar for you to buy now. Sadly mine is from last season, I bought it to wear with leggings and boots as a smart alternative to my parka when meeting with friends and pushing the pram during my maternity.

These days I love it worn open or even slung over the shoulders. A navy coat has to be an investment, it's a classic so don't be shocked if I chose ones with a higher price point than you would usually see on WIT; you want a great cut and good fabric and cost per wear it really makes sense to invest in something fabulous.

1. Stella McCartney Bryce wool and cashmere-blend coat £945
2. Reiss Lavina textured coat £275
3.Jil Sander Palermo wool-blend melton coat £1,930
4. Joseph Man wool and cashmere-blend coat £615
5. Whistles Lux overcoat £450

PS.
Remember tomorrow it's your last day to order and make payment for your Greta Collection piece of jewelelry in time for Christmas delivery! Email me at wearingittoday@gmail.com to place your order.

Where I get my inspiration from

Cos jumper, MiH shirt, Nude jeans, Prada earrings, Jimmy Choo shoes, Other Stories bag
At the week end I was trawling on the Man Repeller (love the brilliant writing and Leandra's cool style) and found this photo of her wearing frayed jeans, a layered men's shirt and heeled courts and found myself totally inspired by her look. I find inspiration for my daily outfits a bit everywhere: my colleagues at Red, a shop window, a shoot in a magazine or a celebrity I love. I pick upon the element that I love, which could be a colour combination, a styling element or a specifi item, and then translate into my own fashion language. And when in the morning I post my outfit, I always hope that WIT does the same for you too xx

Winterizing my J.Crew skirt

Maje jumper, J.Crew skirt and earrings, KG shoes, Tosca bag
What does one wear for afternoon tea with Jenna Lyons? The pressure was on this morning in front of the mirror. I opted for the leopard print pony skin skirt I wore for their shoot (it is my favourite piece from the collection), and gave it a wintery spin with a chunky knit jumper, red bag and a pair of simple black courts. Hair scraped back, a coat of cherry red lipstick and a scarlet mani. Ready to go!

Distressed denim

FC coat Zara shirt Freedom earrings HM jeans Miu Miu shoes
Brrrrrrr! I think last week was definitely the last you will see of a bare leg this winter. Today I'm wrapping up in my winter coat, my check shirt and wearing my distressed  HM Jeans for a busy day of press days. Not everyone can wear distressed denim at work, but if you love a bit of a knee  rip, faded denim and the distressed look, you can always wear at the week end and or dress up with a statement heel for a night out. Here are some more I love.

Behind the scenes on the J.Crew shoot

Back in August I once again had the terrific pleasure of working with WIT favourite J.Crew by joining forces to celebrate their imminent store opening in London this week. Together with  fellow J.Crew fans Caroline Issa and Candice Lake, we chose our favourite AW items, and went for a very fashionable walk around our respective neighbourhoods. The photo shoot is featured in their current J.Crew magazine (you can find as a supplement in December's UK Vogue) and in a post to run on their blog.

The spread in J.Crew's current magalog
It was such a fun day,  I got to play with the ultimate dressing up box and realised just how excited I still get about fabulous clothes and accessories. Here's a scrapbook post with behind the scenes pics from our day in sunny Shoreditch: from hair and make up on my kitchen table,  to Greta making friends with photographer Bryan Derballa and off takes on set.

My bedroom: putting the look together with my own clothes
My shoe selection for the day
Pairing two J.Crew necklace with my Zara yellow knit
In LOVE with this jewelled clutch!
Hair and make up in my kitchen
Greta making friends with the J.Crew team
Hair and make up touch ups and we're ready to go!
I chose an amazing monochrome pony skin leopard print pencil skirt which I styled with my own Zara jumper, Christian Louboutin heels an old Prada bag and two J.Crew layered crystal necklaces..

My favourite shot of the day outside Shoreditch House
My Christian Louboutin shoes getting a moment
For the last shot I got changed in my own Collection cashmere neon pink tee (£148.00)

WIT mama friday: Greta's nursery

I didn't know if I was having a boy or a girl, so to start with I kept Greta's nursery neutral with shades of white and beige. I bought a polka dot bed spread and matching curtains and started adding bits and pieces only after she was born, for the exception of a yellow Liberty print fabric curtain which would have not been appropriate for a boy however much I tired to convince myself and others! Here are some photos of her bedroom as it is today, one whole year after she landed in my arms.

A little overview when walking in through the door
Greta especially loves her bunny but most soft toys anyway!
I've been collecting cards of all sort with animals on them  and then framing them as cool prints.
She loves pointing at them!Especially at Walter the Whale
These accessorize wings are such a sweet prop hanging above her bed
Her wardrobe was always going to be my obsession. I keep it super tidy
and had a liberty print curtain made to close it off. The fabric is called
Claire-Aude and comes in lots of beautiful shades.
I painted the baskets with Farrow and Ball colours and now use them
to display and keep Greta's bedroom toys in
I use the hooks above her toys to display my favourite outfits

I love her pin board with all sorts of memories like our wrist bands
from the hospitals and fabric swatches from when I was doing up her room
This rocking sheep is a recent buy from Zulilly

I use decorative paper to stick photos of us and the family around
so she can point at us. We took this photo in Paris especially for her!
This was an old chair from my house in Florence which I had upholstered
in a coarse cotton stripe fabric from Designer Guild
Classic Liberty print fabric  is the them of Greta's room, I had this pillow made
when she was born.
This use to be her changing table, now I use it to display
her little things like bows and photo frames
The home made jams from her Christening, some of her favourite books and
Vogue from September 2012 (the year she was born)
I've been collecting sweet alice bands and hair accessories from ilovegorgeous.com for when she's older
One of my favourite photos of the two of us with London in the background.. if we ever move from
he UK I will show it to her and say: "this is the country you were born in"

The seagull hanging from the ceiling was mine, Greta loves to look at it
while I change her nappy!
Changing station and the wall I painted on a sleepless night when she was
one month!
One of the most beautiful gifts she received: liberty print alphabet letters
spelling her name
I got the felt stars from Little Nest Box at Notonthehighstreet
This was my gift to Greta when she was born from Modo Creative
The cashmere blanket my grandmother had made for Greta's birth and the
monogramming that my aunt hand made on it is a total heirloom
The mushroom doorstop from Jools Oliver Mothercare collection is
always coommented on!
